De COSAFA Cup 2024 was de tweeëntwintigste editie van dit voetbaltoernooi, georganiseerd door de COSAFA (Council of Southern Africa Football Associations), een internationaal toernooi voor landen die lid zijn van de COSAFA. Het toernooi wordt gespeeld tussen 26 juni en 7 juli 2024. Het toernooi vindt plaats in Port Elizabeth, Zuid-Afrika. Angola won het toernooi.

Deelnemende landen

12 landen nemen aan dit toernooi. Twee COSAFA-leden, Madagaskar en Mauritius doen niet mee.[1] Zimbabwe deed weer voor de eerste mee sinds het land werd uitgesloten van deelname door de FIFA, dat was in 2021.[2] Aanvankelijk zou Malawi wel meedoen, maar het land trok zich nog voor de loting terug vanwege een vliegtuigongeluk eerder die week waarbij acht mensen omkwamen. Uit respect voor de slachtoffers wilde het land niet meedoen.[3] Kenia verving dit land.[4]

Tiebreakers

Teams zijn gerankt op basis van het puntensysteem zoals gebruikelijk in het internationale voetbal (3 punten voor een winst, 1 punt bij een gelijkspel en 0 punten bij verlies), als landen gelijk eindigen in puntenaantal gelden de volgende criteria om de stand te bepalen:

  1. Punten behaald in de onderlinge wedstrijd(en) tussen de betreffende landen;
  2. Doelsaldo in de onderlinge wedstrijd(en) tussen de betreffende landen;
  3. Aantal doelpunten gescoord in de onderlinge wedstrijd(en) tussen de betreffende landen;
  4. Als meerdere landen gelijk eindigen kunnen de criteria eventueel nogmaals worden toegepast als er de resterende landen nog steeds gelijk staan;
  5. Doelsaldo in alle groepswedstrijden;
  6. Aantal doelpunten gescoord in alle groepswedstrijden;
  7. Strafschoppen, maar alleen als de twee landen die gelijkstaan in de laatste wedstrijd tegen elkaar spelen;
  8. Disciplinaire punten (gele kaart = 1 punt, rode kaart (na twee keer geel) = 3 punten, direct rood = 3 punten en een gele kaart gevolgd door direct rood = 4 punten);
  9. Loting

De loting voor de groepsfase vond plaats op 14 juni 2024 in Johannesburg.[5]
