Athletes ethra is een vlinder van de familie van de nachtpauwogen (Saturniidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Saturnia ethra door John Obadiah Westwood in een publicatie uit 1849.[1]
Verspreiding
De soort komt voor in het Afrotropisch gebied waaronder Guinee, Ivoorkust, Kameroen, Equatoriaal-Guinea, Gabon, Centraal Afrikaanse Republiek, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Oeganda, Rwanda en Zimbabwe.
Waardplanten
De rups leeft op Eucalyptus sp. (Myrtaceae).
