Ward Lock-reisgidsen

De Ward Lock-reisgidsen, ook wel Rode Gidsen genoemd (jaren 1870-1970), waren toeristische gidsen voor de Britse Eilanden en continentaal Europa, uitgegeven door Ward, Lock & Co. uit Londen. Het bedrijf prees ze aan als "amuserend en leesbaar" en als de "goedkoopste en meest betrouwbare gidsen". Andere lezers vonden de boeken promotioneel en "zelden kritisch". In vergelijking met soortgelijke series uit de late 19e eeuw, zoals de Little Guides van Methuen & Co., legden de Ward Lock-reisgidsen de nadruk op "praktische reisaspecten".
Reisgiden uit de reeks zijn er verschenen over (gebieden in) België, Engeland, Frankrijk, Ierland, Italië, Nederland, Noord-Ierland, Schotland, Wales en Zwitserland.
