Universal Truths and Cycles is het 14e studioalbum van de Amerikaanse indierockband Guided by Voices. Het album had diverse werktitels; Invisible Train to Earth, All Sinners Welcome, From a Voice Plantation en Exoskeleton Motorcade.[4]
Achtegrond
Na een uitstapje bij TVT Records met de albums Do the Collapse (1999) en Isolation Drills (2001) keerde de band terug bij Matador. Het label wilde Guided by Voices graag terugnemen en de onderhandelingen duurden slechts enkele dagen.[5] Net als bij TVT had Pollard bedongen dat hij naast studioalbums ook ander werk kon uitbrengen.[6] Op 17 september 2002 verscheen de ep The Pipe Dreams of Instant Prince Whippet met B-kanten van de singles van Universal Truths and Cycles en opnames die niet op het album waren terechtgekomen.
Ontvangst
Het album belandde op #160 in de Billboard Top 200, #10 in de Top Independent Albums en #3 in de Top Heatseekers.[7]
