De Motion Picture Distributing and Sales Company was een grote Amerikaanse filmdistributiemaatschappij die actief was tussen 31 mei 1910 en 8 juli 1912.[2]
Het bedrijf distribueerde bijna 2200 stomme films gedurende zijn tweejarige bestaan. De films waren voornamelijk afkomstig van onafhankelijke Amerikaanse filmproducenten, evenals een handvol kleine, onafhankelijke nationale distributeurs.[3] Al deze partijen verzetten zich tegen de poging van de General Film Company, een dochteronderneming van Edisons Motion Picture Patents Company, om een monopolie op filmdistributie in de Verenigde Staten uit te bouwen.[2]
Zowel Universal Pictures als de Mutual Film Corporation zijn voortgekomen uit de Motion Picture Distributing and Sales Company.[4]
