FC Luzern is een Zwitserse voetbalclub uit de stad Luzern en het gelijknamige Duitstalige kanton. De vereniging werd opgericht in 1901. De traditionele kleuren zijn blauw-wit.

Geschiedenis

Hoewel men in 1897 al met een voetbalclub uit Luzern bezig was, werd pas op 12 augustus 1901 in Restaurant Seidenhof de voetbalclub FC Luzern opgericht. Twee jaar later werd men lid van de Zwitserse voetbalbond. Men begon te voetballen in de Serie C, het derde niveau. In 1936 lukte het de blauw-witten voor het eerst om naar de Nationalliga (de huidige Super League) te promoveren.

Het eerste grote succes werd in 1960 met de winst van de Zwitserse voetbalbeker behaald. In 1992 lukte het opnieuw om de beker te veroveren. Tussendoor werd in 1989 nog de landstitel gewonnen.

FC Luzern was een typische liftploeg die een tijd op het hoogste niveau speelt en dan weer enkele jaren in de tweede klasse. De club speelde al bijna zestig seizoenen in de hoogste klasse. Sinds 2006 is men een vaste waarde in de Super League.

Tot en met 2011 speelden de blauw-witten de thuiswedstrijden in het Stadion Allmend, maar dat werd in 2009 afgebroken. Daarvoor in de plaats herrees de Swissporarena, dat plaats heeft voor bijna achttienduizend personen.
