Tony Christie
Tony Christie, geboren als Antony Fitzgerald (Conisbrough, 25 april 1943), is een Engelse zanger die in de jaren 70 succesvol was met hits als I Did What I Did for Maria (1971) en (Is This the Way to) Amarillo (1971).
Deze laatste plaat was op 11 december 1971 Alarmschijf bij de zeezender Radio Veronica en werd ook veel gedraaid op Hilversum 3. De plaat werd een enorme hit en bereikte de 4e positie in de Nederlandse Top 40 en de Hilversum 3 Top 30.
Daarnaast had Christie een kleine hit met Avenues and Alleyways, dat het themanummer was voor de populaire Britse televisieserie The Protectors.
