The last of England is een studioalbum van Gordon Giltrap en Paul Ward. Giltrap is een bekend gitarist in Engeland, met in Heartsong een hit op zijn naam en bewonderd door Ritchie Blackmore. Ward daarentegen is een vrijwel onbekend muzikant en muziekproducent. Zijn album For a knave viel in goede smaak in 1991 in de niche van de progressieve rock, daarna werd het weer stil. Ze trokken samen de studio in voor een studioalbum waarop alleen gitaar en toetsinstrumenten te horen zijn, op de laatste track na.
