Richard Wallace (Sacramento, 26 augustus 1894 – Los Angeles, 3 november 1951) was een Amerikaans filmregisseur.
Biografie
Wallace werd geboren op 26 augustus 1894 in Sacramento (Californië). Hij begon zijn carrière in de jaren twintig op de montageafdeling van Fox Film en werkte zich uiteindelijk op tot regisseur. Hij regisseerde enkele jaren komische korte films voor Universal, Mack Sennett en Hal Roach, waarvan sommige in samenwerking met Stan Laurel (als co-scenarist of assistent-regisseur). In 1926 regisseerde Wallace zijn eerste langspeelfilm.
Een aantal van zijn memorabele films zijn drie Shirley Temple-films, A Night to Remember (1942) met Loretta Young, The Little Minister (1934) met Katharine Hepburn en Bombardier (1943) met Randolph Scott. Wallace was een van de oprichters van de Directors Guild of America. Op 8 februari 1960 kreeg hij postuum een ster op de Hollywood Walk of Fame.[1]
Wallace was getrouwd met Mary Lewis. Het paar had twee geadopteerde kinderen, Keith en Louisa. Hij overleed op 3 november 1951 in Los Angeles aan een hartaanval op 57-jarige leeftijd.[2]
