Prooedema inscisalis is een vlinder van de familie van de grasmotten (Crambidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Botys inscisalis door Francis Walker in een publicatie uit 1866.
De soort komt voor in India (West-Bengalen, Arunachal Pradesh[1], Assam[1], Meghalaya[1]), Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Maleisië (Sarawak)[2], Indonesië (Borneo), de Filippijnen, Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea, Australië en de Solomonseilanden.
