A Song for the Lovers is een nummer van de Britse zanger Richard Ashcroft uit 2000. Het is eerste single van zijn eerste soloalbum Alone with Everybody.

"A Song for the Lovers" was de eerste single van Ashcroft sinds The Verve uit elkaar ging. Hij had het nummer oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor het album Urban Hymns, waarop ook de hit Bitter Sweet Symphony te vinden is. Voor het album werden drie versies van "A Song for the Lovers" opgenomen, maar het nummer haalde uiteindelijk de definitieve selectie niet. Het nummer werd geïnspireerd uit Love Will Tear Us Apart van Joy Division.

Het nummer werd een grote hit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, waar het de 3e positie bereikte. Ook in andere Europese landen werd de plaat een hit. In Nederland was het succes echter bescheiden met een 11e positie in de Tipparade.
